A fun secret!

As I have said I have a fun secret, although I am not just going to tell you off the bat, you will have to see if you will share my secret and do it yourself, I promise its harmless and great fun! I have really been challenged by others, seeing close friends of mine who are so actively involved in different foundations, organizations or the fact that many do things without any recognition to make the world a better place.
It doesn't take much to make someone's day better, to show others Christ's love, and to do something to change how the world is. It starts with each one of us making a difference, it can be as small as bringing an overly tired mom a cup of coffee, a meal so that she can focus on playing with her kids more or getting tasks that she wouldn't have been able to get done that day completed. Bring your Pastor a dessert and a simple thank you note sharing with him encouraging verses and how he has been an influence in your life. Other examples are raking the leaves of an older couple or older single individual that you know may know, buy someone's groceries, or bring a family popcorn, a movie and some drinks so that they can have a family movie night.
Volunteering is such a wonderful thing and rewarding beyond anything you can imagine. I often think that I am being selfish because I feel as though I feel more encouraged than those who I help or volunteer my time with. I LOVE volunteering my time, resources and pouring all of myself into people and sharing the love that Christ has for us. I NEVER want recognition or rewards for what I do, if you know me at all you know thats true, I am not here writing this to expect anything either. I would rather the recognition be to God, I want to be a God honoring woman, use my singleness(and God willing someday my marriage)in such a way that everything I do and say is pleasing to Him and ONLY Him. He is who we should honor in every circumstance, is your attitude pleasing to God in not just the good times but the worst times of your life? I want to be a living sacrifice, who shares Christ's love and is able to be completely selfless and filled with more of Him in every aspect of my life. I know that I will fail(and I will be the first to admit that), I am a sinner saved by the grace of God, but I also know that without God I am NOTHING. I can't get to Heaven any other way. It starts with YOU, and me, but really we should all get involved in something, anything, volunteer a saturday to help others in the community, it doesn't matter if it goes unseen, because you should be doing it not for your own recognition but to help others, be Christ like, not self like(if that makes sense).
For example, last Saturday I went with three other ladies to a friends house about an hour away from the Fargo/Moorhead area to help them with anything that they needed help with. Yes it was gas, yes it was a Saturday I won't get back but I wouldn't have traded it for a day at home, or a day in the cities, simply because I was able to pour myself into projects that our friends would not have been able to complete with just the two of them that day.
We should be willing to help, use our time, our money, our resources in a way that is pleasing to God. I understand that not everyone has the money or the time to do things, but there are ways we can MAKE time, we can donate plasma or sell things that we don't use and use that money on others and not the latest, greatest thing that just came out. Be wise with your money and your time, don't overwork yourself but don't just give your regular tithe and relax every time you can away. Make time to be a blessing, involve others, your family if you have one to show others that it's not about you, but about helping them with what their needs and wants. Really what it boils down to is if you are doing things to get recognition you are not being God honoring, we should do everything pleasing and honoring to Him, why take recognition for anything when you would be NOTHING without HIM.
Take in someone who may be struggling with finding a place to live, don't have expectations of people because really those expectations will be broken and you will be discouraged. Simply do everything you can to please God, go out of your way to help people and make time for those who may not have friends they can call up and ask for help. It starts with each one of us to make a difference in the world, who cares about recognition as long as we are all doing the best we can to SERVE EACH OTHER. I hope this will inspire others to help out more, volunteer time, money, what ever it may be to make this world a better place. We can sit and talk all day about how the world is a terrible place(which it is) but how is that helping the world become a better place if we are doing NOTHING about it?

Also to add my secret since I promised you it, is to be a blessing without getting recognition is to do whatever you may do to encourage someone, bake cookies, bring a meal or something, add an encouraging verse/note and literally do a ding dong ditch(basically leave whatever it is that you are bringing to that individual/family on the door step, leave your car running, ring the doorbell and run as fast to your car as you can and leave in the fastest(safest) way possible so they don't know who blessed them. It is amazing, gives you an adrenaline rush and makes you laugh as you probably feel funny doing so but with great joy and the excitement of being a blessing. ;) Just my thoughts today… Hope everyone has a wonderful night! :)
